TravellingAgain

After 34 hours of travelling by train I reached the “real” starting point of my trip: Moscow. Breathing the air of an unknown city, deciphering the cyrillic road signs, absorbing the impressions of another culture – I finally got the feeling of being travelling again after a long time. The excitement of walking through a completely new area is an experience which I have been missing for some time now. While wandering through the streets of Moscow, feeling the ensuring weight of my backpack along the way, was not that difficult – I did not even take one wrong turn on my way to the hostel – it was still great to notice the small and big differences in culture, even in the very western-like center.

Arriving in the hostel was another welcoming impression to me. After a very friendly staff member showed me around and I sat down in the communal kitchen, a few other travellers joined me shortly afterwards. Talking with them about the experiences they made, aspects of their home countries (US, Denmark, Norway and Belgium) and – of course – politics was refreshing and I noticed, how much I have been missing this way of sharing thoughts.

Now I really look forward to the next days, which still we be somewhat relaxed, before the real challenge – exploring China – begins.
